    Hi,

Has anyone changed the rear tyre on a 2013 Iron XL883 to something wider?

Currently it's 150mm, and wanting to go to 180 - 200mm using the existing rim and no changes to the frame. Has anyone else done this?

    Cheers,
    Paul J.

    Cant be done

170/70 as wide as you can go on existing rim. Even that takes some modification to clear indicator bolts and wiring.

Any wider than 170 you risk the tyre falling off the rim. 4 shops refused to fit the 170 before one finally said ok.

This is Shinko 170/70/16 on left and stock 150 Michelin the bike, Off the bike no way did it look like working.

This is after, It tucks in just enough, when the airbags were deflated the Right hand blinker bolt missed the tyre by 3mm, at 100kph+ at full stroke it would surely hit, I had to trim it down and got clearance to 8mm.

It still isn't exactly huge, but without changing rims and relocating blinkers it's about as wide as you can go.
