    Hi,

Where do I go in WA (Mandurah, Rockingham, Perth) to get Lucas straight 50 oil? - Desperately need this for my vintage shovelhead now!

A year or two ago I mentioned the problem I had finding this oil to a local Suzuki dealer who then said they probably could sort it for me so I didn't have to go to Perth, but when I contacted them today I were told that they cant get it - pointed me towards Lucas oil in Queensland [:(]

The only shop I know of where I managed to find this is American Motorcycles in Vic Park) - a bit of a trott going there for just oil so would be great to find someone closer to home (Mandurah WA) - especially since its a bit of hit and miss if they even got it in stock when you rock up [:(]

    cheers

Maybe worth seeing if you can get your hands on kendal oil. Two of the best early Harley engine builders I know swear by it. I will runit in my 73

PENRITE HD-50... Im running this oil in my 1950 panhead and 1970 shovelhead, both are kick start bikes, l dont notice hard starting  or any problems with this oil at all.

at the price l figure its worth trying out,+ straight 50 weight with temps here in vic in the 30's at the moment over summer, hot days dont seem to  show extra tappet noise or other that would be associated with a hot running  oil,(on a 90mile ride)

The  thing that botheres me is a 4lt bottle, its not available in larger containers, so im still looking into companies that sell 20lt drums of 50/60 and straight 60.suitable for big twins, im not worried about brand names just good quality product,

Good Luck with your search for Lucas oil,  l did google it and did see it is available in some Aust cities, but not as common as l would have thought,

Well REPCO turned out to be a dud - Lucas is not even on their list - best they could come up with was Penrite - But rather stay away from this if I can - my quest will continue :(

Managed to sort out the oil - Ended up going for VPW - sadly he were only able to provide 10 bottles so now I need to fork out more money in shipping (compared to getting the whole lot upfront) - but what the hell - not that I need this extra outlay at the moment, but ....

Thanks for pointing out VPW though

American Motorcycle in Vic Park have been very unreliable in the past so good to get some other option

    cheers
