I recently updated to a fat bob, I love it and so does my girlie, she is coming on more rides which is a good thing.  Communication whilst on the move has always been hand signals, gentle taps and occasional punches.

All good, but now the suggestion has been made that some intercom might be a nice idea.

 I'm not so sure.....thoughts anyone?

After riding for 30+ years and 100,000's of kays, I bought a 20s Sena Bluetooth with fm radio etc. Best thing I ever did. Not paired to my pillion, but great range to talk with other riders when I feel the need, plus get to listen to some tunes as I ride along (I wear a full face, flip up lid for long trips). You can buy a twin pack for about $550 I think. Shop around. Also cheaper brands probably?

we used a scala rider as our first intercom, for the half a meter as pillion it worked great, then she got her own bike and it and it was still a good system but only had around 500m distance till we lost each other

we up graded to the Sena 20S and like FXDF08 said, great unit, Bluetooth the phone for calls and music, music don't go away between talking, easy to use, good distance coverage.
can set it up to voice control to dial a phone, change music, inter com, or any other function, you can also get "ambient" noise, that's outside the helmet if you were talking to someone say at the servo paying for fuel

Bose quietcomfort 2i inear noise cancelling headphones for me. I can barely hear the mummer of my pipes and then nothing when I crank up the Black Sabbath!

Oh HELL NO.....Im happy with my own thoughts and the sound of the engine on my rides...not the missus's blah blah blah in my earhole!!

fellas, after 30 years of marraige, when my wife talks, I hear her, it just makes it clearer through the intercom

I have the interphone fbeat, use it only for the music, do not carry a pillion and no one ever rings me.

The trouble I have is that the voices are now texting me!

Buy a bike were no backseat can be installed with out big money spent and pipes that go over the screw ins for the foot pegs

My wife doesnt ride with me as she rekons I'm too dangerous, so no need.
I do'nt see her much atm anyway as shes's living up on the GC caring for her mum who has now got dementia and has gone blind.

Tell you my experience ,, Bought one , took the wife out , she would'nt shut up ,,, about 100 klm into the ride , the conversation went like this ..

Her , taps my shoulder and says ,,,, did you see that

Me ,,,, See what

Her ,,,, that cow ,

Me ,,, what about it

Her ,,, It was lay down .

Me ,,, Yeh they do that

Her ,,, Turn around ,

Me ,,, what for

Her ,,, It was lay down , it might be dead or hurt , go tell the farmer ..

I turned it down , then told her it was broke 500 bucks down the drain , cursed and swore , and never wore them again ..
Until a trip yo the east coast with a mate . i gave him her part , and said we can talk on the bikes ,,, first hour Ok ,, Thn the talking started and he would'nt shut up , so Off mine came ,, gave him that one has well , and told him to talk to himself , but for me , hand signals and peace and quiet from now on .
