    Hi guys,

I recently purchased an Iron 883 that already had some mods and i'm trying to see what length my progressive suspension is.

I have emailed progressive with no reply and have checked google for the part number however am not having much luck.

I'm tipping from my measurement that they are 10 & 1/2" though not sure if they are compressed whilst it is sitting?

Anyway, I find the ride very rigid at the moment with very little movement in the rear and am looking at getting something with more travel.

If they are in fact 10 & 1/2", would I see much difference in swapping them over for 11 & 1/2"?

I love the current stance however the comfort isn't ideal.

    Thanks in advance!

You know you can adjust them right?

    Thanks guys.
Yeah I know they are adjustable, they are already on the softest setting though.
    So ikon shocks over progressive?
Just wondering, why should I get 48 shocks instead of 883 ones?
    Cheers

when I had my Sporty Custom, I had IKON ( Albury) made to suite Me, I had them made 10mm longer than standard.

Your pic shows you have Progressive 412 shocks. Normally not bad.  But maybe someone bought wrong length ( compared to stock length)

Mate, how heavy are you and what are you used to riding....ie, have you come from riding a vastly different bike? Play with the adjustments and see if you notice a difference. Those bushes are toast as well.

I'm 80kg. This is my first cruiser as I've had sport bikes for the last 10 years so I'm definitely not used to it, but the shop I took it to to get RWC recommended changing the shocks as they have hardly any travel.
I understand it's going to be a rough ride to have a lowered stance, was just thinking an inch or so higher might be better.
I have no idea how the preload settings work, just assumed they were set to soft..
I'll definitely change those bushes, thanks!
The bike is off the road at the moment as I'm changing the bars, they wouldn't pass RWC as my bars had "sharp angles" so I just got a set of chumps.
    Thanks for the replies
