Just wanted to get some others opinions on fitting a set of second hand cams.

I have a softail slim with the 103 and 8500klms on it. I have the oppotunity to get some Se204 cams with approximately 5000ks on them. Do you guys think I should just get new ones or nothing to worry about with the second hand ones. Id be fitting new lifters adjustable pushrods and perhaps the cam plate and Hi volume oil pump at the same time. What do yas reckon

    Cheers

I agree, as long as they look the goods, you should have no dramas. Particularly with 204's, a lot of guys put them in then shortly after that they want more power so swap 'em out along with other engine work.

If the se 204 cams are the ones that fit the bill for you,, I absolutely agree with Mickle above ....

You say "you can get some" ,,,, We can get anything for a price ..... The se 204 cams sell for around $480 new ,,, If you got a good mate thats giving them to you , clap your fucking hands ,,,, If your paying say, $350 and you dont know the guy, (who really knows what the fuck there done),, I would probably buy new .....

I know you only have 8500 km ,,, I would put in new inner cam bearings ..... Also with different cams , you may also need the spacer kit... When you check alignment of crank and cam sprockets , you normally need a thicker spacer, (check manual for more info) ....

With regard cam plate and oil pump,, I would inspect them,, with the km you have on your bike , they should be good to re install, and will do the job .. Just buy new oil O rings for behind the oil pump .... No good throwing money away when you dont have to ...... Good luck with you project .......
