Seeing we have a thread on how the SE Super Tuner Pro is going,, with all the drama in the USA ,, in a nutshell ,, is all the software etc, working as it should as before ???? Any drama gaining access to software etc , from the USA , (as this is where it all comes from)... I have the SE Super Pro Tuner for my 2015 bike , (I have not had to use it at this stage).... I am still getting conflicting reports, etc, on what it can do , and what it can't do because of software changes, and all the drama HD are having in the States .... I have spoken to a couple of dealers regarding the SE Super Tuner Pro , and what are there thoughts for the future,, and they just look at you , and carry on like fuckwits .....
Hilly , you seem to be tuning with the above tuner ,, what are your thoughts ????

Screamin' Eagle Pro Super Tuner Version 10.001 is working fine for me so far , I have used it on several bikes now with no dramas. 2008's to 2015's. Stage 1's to stage 4 kits

However my tuning mates in the states reckon for them it's all over red Rover..

IT SURE DOES "LOOK" DIFFERENT ! I have version 7.000 on another laptop that I only use for bikes up to 2014 , and the difference in the graphics etc etc is huge

I have kept that version specifically , A) because I can , and B) it does not HAVE to be updated all the time , it requests it but does not force it

So what I'm reading from above,, is that the SE Super Tuner Pro , (which is now not sold in the States), is operating as before, (ie, manipulate the tune to defeat epa regs), the epa dramas hit the States for international countries that are, (at the moment), not in step with the US epa regs ??

I just cant get my head around that in the US ,(which is where the mother ship is located , and the biggest market), they  can't sell the above tuner any more,, but they can sell and service, (software wise) , this same tuner to countries that are not tied up with the new US epa regs ..... I did read somewhere , that the new 2107 models can only be tuned , (manipulated), with Harley's new Steet tuner, (to keep tune within epa regs),, ,,,, So this post is really talking about 2016 and earlier models .......

Does this sound about right, or am I missing something ????

Getting slightly off topic, but my main tuning contact in the US tells me there are already "work-arounds" to the "New" Pro Street tuner.

He has asked politely "if I would like to know how"..

At the mo' I have no need...but never say never..

I just used the version 10 to tune a new 4 valve harley. 2017 model. The software works in a similar fashion to previous. One cannot change certain parts of the closed loop area. The numbers will change in the software, but the bike does not. Apart from that, does anyone know how to get rid of the stupid toolbar which blocks half the screen whilst working on it? The bike was a Street Glide 107 with SE mufflers and breather/filter. All a bit soft really. I was expecting the thing would actually go better with all the hype. It would appear they need some one to make a decent cam for them. The version 9 software will not accept ANY of the new tunes.

I do not know if it works on earlier bikes. I am still using vers 9 on earlier ones. I only had that one bike there to tune that day, so was not looking to burn time doing experiments. One cannot tune the M8 with vers 9. At least not the one I have done so far... And Yes, it does change the way I would like to tune the bike. The owner already had the SEPST. Bike was also speed limited to 185km/hr which is a bugger during closed course competition. I will be trying to use the PV license where possible as we can adjust speed limiter and closed loop. areas.
Who are you markwoumla? do you tune for a job or home?

It was an orange box, supplied with the bike. I had to upgrade the firmware before use as well.one can alter the AF table, and the.numbers change, but the bikes AF does not change.

Apparently there are "ways around" or in computer speak "work arounds" to being able to circumvent the "can't change the AFR" scenario.

My tuning mates in the US have mentioned this to me , and have offered to "tell me how". Having no need so far , I said maybe later.

It's probably quite simple , probably as simple as changing/upping the cubic inches in the tuning constants

"It's probably quite simple , probably as simple as changing/upping the cubic inches in the tuning constants" That would be conjecture... I could still tune the bike with the software the way it is, just not exactly how I would like to do it. The WOT power would be the same. The friggin stupid 50mm high toolbar is the most annoying thing about the version 10 as you have to scroll up and down all the time to adjust the VE's etc. Really I was quite dissapointed at how the engine went. Like 4 hp more than a good 2006 88cube with the same sort of pipes and filter. I guess the potential is worth the extra money. Andrews, S&S and the like will be rubbing their hands together on this baby. Money for Jam.

I believe so, but I would have to apply/send his license key to the pv he bought. Really if some guy wants to do his own tuning he should just buy the unit. Heaps less mucking about. He can then add another license if he gets another bike, etc.

I've just acquired a 13 built, MY14 forty eight... it came with the SE Super Tuner Pro for which was paired to the bike from new.
When trying to install the software, (SuperTuner10.001.0000.exe) it will not complete the install.. it straight away says, "Super Tuner VCI connection test failed to install"....

Any ideas what I am doing wrong? I am using a PC with windows 7 Pro...

you might be right, but the website says:
    Minimum PC requirements:
    Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10 (32-bit or 64-bit)
1 GB available HDD Space, 1 GB Ram
Intel Pentium 1.2 GHz or higher
    USB Port

I'm using Windows 7 64bit and the super tuner works on that and on my lappy which is running the 32bit version of 7. How is your firewall setup because the program accesses the net to verify if it's up to date or not. If it can't talk to "home" while installing and then after it's installed,  it might spit the dummy. You are connected to the net while installing?

I think I found the prob. Was using a work laptop while at work to install.. so sounds like the firewall is the issue, even though connected to the internet.
Now I am using my macbook, running windows 7 in bootcamp mode.. installed perfect. Thanks for the assistance above :)

Have hooked up to bike and verified I am running the SE stage 1 tune..

Problem is, my bike is not running smooth at part throttle openings... very difficult to "cruise"... feels like not enough fuel?

Bike is 14 model, 48 with SE intake and SE slip ons..

A word to the wise maybe ?

I have just tuned two 2016 bikes ( my first two actually !)

    One a 2016 Dyna Fatbob 103 ( a cable throttle bike !) , the other a 2016 Softail Breakout 103 ( a DBW bike !)

So NOT the same calibrations for Dynas and Softails no more obviously..

My point being , the Dyna popping on decel/downchanges with BUB M22 slip on mufflers and K&N air ( not too badly but it's popping !)

The 103 Softail Breakout same same...V&H slip ons and K&N air

I email my "tuning contact" in the US of A my concerns , and he says . and I've cut a quote from his reply...

"The Canned maps are just a crap shoot now. It is likely an emission thing since the recent problems Harley has had."

He has sent me a modded cal for both , I'll install over the next week or so and see how we go.

Both bikes seem to run well enough , each has under 1600 K's up so there's a way to go yet

    OK
I have seen the mytune site.. will have a detailed look and try to understand..

Does the FREE version do what I want to do? or will it only show me what needs to change?

Perhaps it is worth trying it to see if I understand the operation process first.

Hilly, you said you use mytune. Do you use that instead of the Super Tuner program that goes with the SEPST or use both? With the shit with the super tuner program, mytune may be a better option when used with the SEPST, do you reckon?

I may be "old school" but there's a place for that..

You can get there by using the "butt dyno" , I use that feature all the time.

On the first roadtest I get the guys to report any surging/decel popping , rough running ( AKA "jerky" ) etc etc

Better for them rather than me to compare it to "before and after" , then I'll make the changes if necessary

For my closer mates I'll ride beside them on various road conditions and listen.

For "radical builds" my contact in the US is a great source , he's seen EVERYTHING before now as he does the tunes for 5 Harley dealerships and keeps a copy of all the Dyno work

Sounds very "carby" I know , but that's my "original training" haha...
