    Howdy folks,

Just quickly introducing myself while doing a bit of searching around.

I've been leaning towards a harley for a while now, mentioned it to the missus the other night and she gave me the green light with no hesitations. Not sure what she is after in return but I'm sure that day will come in due course. Might as well take advantage of the permission I have.

Previous rides were a Honda VTR250 - loved it to bits. Was going to buy it back until the new owner binned it. Suzuki GSXR 750 - didn't like it at all. sold it within the month and  triumph street triple - liked it but got bored with it.

I haven't had a bike for about a year now and the need for a new toy is starting to work it's magic. I'm currently weighing up my options and trying to decide which bike I want. So far I'm liking the street bob, wide glide and a soft tail slim s. Pretty sure i'll choose using a time honoured tradition of picking the one that gives me the biggest boner.

Anyway, gonna search around and look at what everyone has done with theirs, cheers.

    Welcome mate.
Maybe Her indoors wants to travel with you.
If so, you might look for a Harley tourer or a something similar.
Quite a few blokes on here, do a lot of travelling.
    Cheers.

Soo... Went in to the store today for a test ride and to check out a few bikes in person.

Took a second hand lo rider as it was the only dyna demo he had. It was surprisingly easy to ride, even with slow maneuvers. Think I am pretty much sold now.

Only thing that bugged me is how hard the dealer was pushing anything and everything he could. Finance at around 15%, + insurance, and wanted me to add a few mods to it right from the get go. He seemed like he was only making money on the extra's.

The only thing that sounded remotely reasonable was a set of pipes, air cleaner and a tuner for $1500. Just doing a quick search around now and it looks like it can be done much cheaper. It almost seems like there is too much information out there though to sort the truth from the crap.

The Dyna models are good handling maneuverable bikes. The only draw backs I've found with the Dyna's is a vibration at or between 60 and 70mph that can be felt in the seat, pegs and bars. Below 60 or above 70mph they smooth out. If you don't spend a lot of time touring, you may not feel that would be a problem or if most of your riding is around town, you may not notice it. As for the dealer wanting to add accessories, of course, you can get the parts cheaper in the after market. I've used a tuner from nightrider.com here in the states thats plug and play. They work very well for bikes modified with just exhaust and air filter for less that 200 dollars and a no brainer install.
