just wondering if anyone can shed some light on the oil subject. i know eveyone has their own opinions and im trying to figure shit out since i bought the new girl. a mechanic mate of mine recommended penzoil for engine and torco 4 primary and gbox, which i did. now a good mate of mine only uses harley oils from the dealer, he reckons they have sulphur in them and thats good, and the aussie oils dont????fucked if i know. all i know is , im pretty sure harley dont make their own oils, sounds like just a good sell (globalisation shit to me)....................am i wrong.....?

Daves pretty much got it right.
20w 50 is good all year.
20w 50.15w 40. 15w 50. 10w 40. 10w 50 winter.
Summer 20w 50. 20w 60. 25w60.
If you want the engine to last a little longer use a synthetic motorbike oil like Mobil 1 V-twin etc. Mineral works just fine.
The key with the Harley's is the weight of the oil & a high amount of zinc.(1100 ppm And up).
I use a 15w 50 diesel oil by penrite in winter & now use SIN 25 in summer or HPR diesel. It's all personal preference.

Thats funny cos this bloke came into work today on a 07 softail and we got talking and he uses racing car oil ........
He was going on about its made for high temp engines......
