Fuel filter, development.

Recently put up a post about changing the fuel filter and how I was given the whole module for 150 odd bucks and not just the filter and o ring for substantially less.

This afternoon the dealer phoned me and apologised for the bad call and admitted it was a mistake, human error, and that they would look after me down the track.

Quite pleased about it all now really. Nice to know the forum has a bit of clout. Also happy the dealer did the right thing as well.

    Happy ending.

That's interesting FC. As I said in the previous thread I was told $127 for the whole unit by my local (indy) bloke.
Can just the filter and o ring be bought?

Yes Beaglebasher, the filter and o ring CAN be bought. I purchased one of each from quickfix spares in Mildura after buying the whole kit and kaboodle for next time the job needs doing. However the local Harley shop did call me this arvo and said you do not need the whole unit.

Funny you got the same original advice as I did, I guess there was someone working in the big store room where they keep all the spares who was giving the incorrect advice.

Not the same component , but similar happened to me...
Wanted to buy the latest and greatest se oil pump... was told I have to buy the latest and greatest cam plate as well, as they dont sell oil pump separately .... I told the parts guy thats strange,, I will think about it . (another 4-500 that I really did'nt want to spend)...
An hour later my mobile rings,, the parts guy says sorry about the confusion,, but they do sell the se oil pump separately, which previously they did'nt ..... You get better at ordering /buying parts the more wrenching you do,, there is a learning curve you have to go through though.. !!!!!

Looks like the local dealer is staffed by people who do care. More importantly admit to an error, apologise, and offer a solution.
Both refreshing and reassuring, isn't it.

One of the newer dealers, or an old established one? You hadn't mentioned your location.
