i ran a 13.4 at WSID the other day,
now I bought a bottle of octane booster for $12.00 so should be good for mid 10's?

just for a couple extra ponies and i get the fuel for free. the engine is a 88cube with no mods. the only real trouble i see with it is the avgas contains lead, and the engine will need a tune to stop pinging

I get worse fuel economy running 98 than I do running 95 in my bike.

All you will do is throw fuel out the back of the bike thats not burnt properly.

You would need a serious motor to run that fuel.

It depends on how the bike runs. If it runs good there should be no problem. However what is used in the fuel to get the high octane rating? If it's ethanol/methanol there might be a problem if there's too much of it.
I'd mix the Av Gas with regular unleaded.

ok, the dealer told me to use 98, but a quick look at the manual it says 91 (95 RON).

Whitey - the manual says 91 but that is in US rating which is equivalent to roughly 95 - 96 Auzzie octane.

I just managed to fix my pinging issue that I' ve had for a while since I fitted the Thundermax. Admittedly I've been pretty slack with it as it wasn't that pronounced. But I did notice it a lot more at higher speeds on our ride to Edenhope. I just took off 1 degree of timing from the Timing vs Engine speed map which takes a degree of timing off across all the rev ranges. That fixed it, there wasn't any noticable cost in performance either.

So down to the guts of it all, what is the correct fuel to use in a 96 Cube.

balls of aluminium on the plugs Scotty, that does sound real good. And thanks for the info on the fuel, I am using 95 at the moment and all is good.

95 & 98 are the best but I use Shell or Caltex regular & never had much of a problem since the bike was re-jetted, I mix premium in when I have the cash & the engine works better. If you live in the bush (who's gonna pay 10/12 cents more a litre for 95?).
