Those Fatboy Lows are just a bucket of junk mate, get rid of it now before it gives you grief and costs you a fortune.
Tell you what, I'll give you 10 for it..........

Been reading a bit about the rocker bolts causing a rattle, Hence Rocker Lockers and the other brand someone mentioned on a thread here recently. Perhaps do a Google search and see if symptoms match what you have. Good luck

When are you in sixth gear or even fifth? I cruise at 100 kph in 4th, keep the bike in the torque curve mate, so many Harley riders do not know how to ride, cruising around at 60 in fifth, fucken retards, then they get on here asking all sorts of stupid questions. I saw one yesterday asking how to wash the fucken thing, fuck me!

Sounds like pre-ignition to me ( also known as "pinging" !)

What you ere describing and when you notice it sure sounds like it.

98 fuel , and dropping a gear before roll-on and seeing if it "stops" will eliminate pinging as a source of the noise

exhaust heat shield clamps, play in shifter linkage,  fuel cap maybe loose?

    Yeah mate, just joking.

Actually I'm jealous as buggery, would love that bike in my shed.

I hope Damien sorted the rattle out.

Could well be the compensater or the primary chain. Quick fix for the primary chain is to ride slowly in first gear, back off the throttle then full throttle. This allows the primary to get slack under de-acceleration and ratchet its self up to the next tooth on the Auto adjuster. As for the compensater sadlt its a replace job if its worn. Lastly riding around in 6th gear at lower speeds 80kph and lower is a sure way to get that primary slapping around in the case. These big motors dont mind a few extra revs. Hope this helps, if your not sure what i mean please feel free to PM me.

This sounds absurd BUT can't hurt to check you're fuel filler cap. Took a while to figure out where my rattle came from which was only present at certain revs,Was loud and sounded like something in the engine was very definitely not happy. If so an easy fix.

Thinking back, I had a rattle on the Dyna, sounded like front of the engine, tracked down to the bracket inside the headlight which holds the light in place, it was bent allowing the light to move intermittently. Straightened & refitted, no more rattle.
