Wobble!

Hi all, i recently had my bars changed on my Softail standard, it had the small Nightrain/Drag bars with about 6" riser set up. Never liked the look so ive just changed them over to some Western bars-From Scorpion in QLD-with the riser from a new Softail Slim so they are nice and low. the thing looks awesome however i got the chance to get out on the highway last week and noticed a wobble, fisrt when behind a car with horse float, then behind a small hatch back, both at about 100kph. I never had this issue before the bar change and it seems fine when theres nothing in front of me! the steering does feel very light with the new bars, i just thought because of the extra leverage being much wider it would do that. It also had a new front tyre put on, thought it may be a balance thing but that would mean it would wabble all the time?? Anyway hoping somewone out there may have some ideas!

    Cheers

I don't think it's mechanical....it's the air behind the vehicle in front of you creating the wobble...

Try sitting behind a semi the wobble is worse

thanks for the feedback, I didn't think it would be mechanical, sounds like a trade off for the wide bar look!

Replace the rubber bushes for polyurethane a lot more solid less movement which can happen when the
Rubber ones are old or wider / taller bars fitted as you have done

Also - Do a Fall Away Test. You might find the steering is too loose.

It's just the Air coming of the other cars, because your changed the bars you probably sitting up a little straighter so the air is hitting you diffrently now

A few guys have said check your Neck Bearing , it's not the problem but the tell tail sign that your Bearing need replacing is you will feel a vibration in the bars when you stop and come to a stand still with the front brake on , the vibration will not be there when you let the brake off
