JFE: roo and belt guard killer

So I've started the return trip home from FNQ. First thousand km's down, though I'm now running without a belt guard having snapped mine. Well actually the quality Qld roads smashed it.

The issue was my need to remove and bin my upper belt drive guard as one of its two attachment arms snapped -- I hit a big enough bump for it to smash into the rear fender. There are some crap roads that get called highways in this country. I have some scratches on the rear fender (out of sight) which I can live as part of the adventure.

Initially I thought I could get away with leaving it alone but she started scratching the large rear sprocket. My only choice was to pull over, remove & bin it, and I'm now running sans guard. No choice; no HD dealers out this way. I'm grateful the broken guard didn't get caught on something or caused a bigger issue. All that put me an hour late meaning I rode into dusk through roo country which shot my nerves but all ok. Killed two dumb birds unfortunately though.

    Despite that hick-up, great ride!

I always carry a few cable ties, just in case something comes adrift. Hopefully you have a Safe enjoyable ride the rest of the way.

A long ride, I assume .... will test EVERYTHING, especially your riding gear.

JFE ..... Did you find comfort in your helmet, boots, clothing, bike accessories etc ?

Never found the guards useful. Looks cleaner without 'em.

Yep, that bug remover really works well.
