Hi all,  new to this interweb chat thing so take it easy on me wink,

Ive just obtained a harley roller, after decoding the vin it seems to be an early 80s fx style frame, i also have a 75 shovel with matching 4speed kicker box.  Now my question to you all is, am i legaly allowed to put an older engine in a newer model frame????  I understand with cars this is not really aloud because of emission laws but im hoping there is  way around this for bikes. I will be contacting my local RMS and blueslip mechanic but id like to hear about other peoples stories and experience first.  Any help will be muchly appreciated! Like i said im new to all of this and im looking forward to sharing my build and ideas with you all.

    Cheers Pete

The bike and frame are old enough that you could put them on club rego, that'd probably make the issue of engine age a lot easier to get around.

Awesome, thanks for your quick reply. How do you go about club rego? I understand you must be a member to a club of some sort? I'm from Gosford on the central coast NSW. I'll have to look into that this weekend as I would like to go for rego in the next few weeks. Fingers crossed!!

Ahhh NSW... sorry I don't know how it works up there.

Down in Vic you join a classic vehicle or motorbike club and as long as your car or bike is old enough the club inspector does a safety inspection and if it passes you can apply for club rego.

Seems a long trip to get your bike on the road, consider buying a regoed bike to hop straight on to?

Hey Paul I've bought the bike as a project, so i understand it could take some time. I'm just seeing what my options are at the moment as i have the exact engine and box set up I'm after so want to try get it on the road as is before I got chopping into it, plus I'm not in the financial position to go buy a bike already done lol as much as that would be the easier way to go!
