My mate is selling new progressive 422s that have done about 1500 ks for $400 if interested. I got them on mine and they are a good shock specially for that price.

Youre getting a good deal there Binsy. Really happy with mine. Have heard a few blokes say they are too hard but unless you are a featherweight (in which case the standard ones may be better) you wont regret it.

These are the standard progressives so will be good.. and yep ya right there ,the heavy duties are too hard, sent mine back and swapped em for standards

90 kilos on a good day far canal and am glad they are standard as didnt want heavy duty. They certainly get a good wrap from owners. The standard ones are horrific, not bad on the way down but rebound way too fast. Makes the rear wheel do different things to the front one and thats a bit scary sometimes. Thanks again chriso, will ring the number you gave me soon. Just at work.

Mine are actually the heavy duty ones.

I did agonise over getting them or the standard ones . Got mine set at nearly the softest setting and can not complain. Guess if I had the standard ones the setting would be set a bit firmer.

Reckon there would be a bit of overlap between the two.

Anyway I think you will be happy with the improvement, specially at that price.

Fitted the 422s to the bike yesterday (thanks chriso and Bill) went for a short squirt for a few Ks. My initial thoughts were that I could feel bumps through the front a lot more (mono-tubes fitted in the front as well) not sure if it was my imagination or not. Anyway to the rear, left them on softest setting when I put them on and for the short amount of time I tested them they seemed a lot better than stock, wouldn't be hard though. I thought the ride was certainly smoother and there is no doubt that it tips into corners a hell of a lot better. Seemed more stable and behaved a lot better. It was only around town so haven't tested on the highway at 100 ks yet. So far so good.
Fitted them myself which was a fairly uneventful process. Did it while the bike was on the lift, a little fiddly cause the lift was in the road but got it done in a couple of hours. The service manual says to raise the rear of the bike so the rear wheel is just off the ground, did that and noticed that when I took the rear bolts out of the swing-arm area they were under a little pressure IE with the rear wheel off the ground the bolts are under a bit of stress as the shocker has a bit of load on it. That said, when I went to fit the 422s the holes wouldn't line up unless I dropped the rear wheel down on the ground a bit to move the swing-arm to line up with the rear shocker holes, if that makes sense. Not sure of that is how its supposed to be but it was the only way the rear bolt holes would line up. Anyway all fitted and not a hard job at all. Will go for a good scoot soon and give a further opinion for what its worth. I reckon the back is a whisker lower with the 422s on it as well albeit they are set to the highest setting. Will play around with the preload settings and see what difference that makes as well.

I had IKON rebuild mine with new internals. Cant really fault them compared to standard. could be worth a look for you.
