Hi guys, have an S&S E carb on my 94 evo. for some reason, the filter plate doesnt align correctly. 

Could it be as simple as its for a sportster, or could something else be going on. The bloke i got the engine off said he never did anything to it so ive got no idea. Pics related.

The phenolic spacer was used on B's and not normally on E's , you could retain it if you want or remove it . You will still need the S&S breather , air cleaner mounting fastener/spacer kit and install it as per instructions for the correct support of the assembly and breather routing.

Not really , if the guy was in an environment that was hot on a good day and really hot on a bad day he may have been chasing a operation condition that the block helped. But do be aware that air leaks are more likely around the block if its distorted which did happen to them.
