Went in to find a battery for my Harley 1981 shovel
- They didn't have the size I needed where they googled a suitable battery (SSB HVT-7)
- Gave me a price of $260 that they demanded full payment of before they were willing to bring one in
- When I went around the counter to check what battery they found the lady quickly scrolled down trying to hide the list price of the battery they just found found ...but not quickly enough since I noticed that the battery they just quoted me $260 actually sells for $140 (with 30% discount) - Asked how they could justify a 140% price increase they tried to brush this off as not having any knowledge of the site they found the battery on (oz dealer) - Went home and went back to this site where the price indeed were $140 (with 30% discount) where I could get it shipped for $30 to WA - Another quick check and I found the exact same battery from a recognized dealer for $180 (shipped) - WTF !
- No wonder WA businesses are struggling when they overcharge customers to this degree! - Not happy and will spread the message to anyone willing to listen
listening and noted spacewolf Battery World are not cheap.
I always ran Genuine Harley AGM battery in my Shovel, is it a Superglide or FLH? the Superglide , WideGlide just run same HD battery as Dyna's or Sportsters & think Softail same FLH not sure of as they are big. but sounds like you got one.
The worst thing about all these incidents is they highlight one thing. The unwillingness of consumers to contact and patronise and form relationships with their local Harley Dealer for all their parts and service. Everyone just expects to be ripped off by the dealer and they go elsewhere (and online) only to be disappointed there as well with even less recourse when things go wrong.
I'm after a battery for mine at the moment. Called a mate who recently got a job in a bike spares shop here in Adelaide. Their price $160, but he gave me a heads up that he paid $140 at another place in Pooraka about a year ago.
Definitely pays to do some shopping around.
This site is pretty cheap for batteries,
http://www.batteriesdirect.com.au/shop/product/4400/hvt7.html
This site is also cheaper than Batteries World (via a Wholesaler).
