hi guys, just ordered 2 fp3's for our Fatboy's. Wife has 2012 with SE slip ons with baron big air and I have 2016 with V&H short shots and HD SE heavy breather, have searched the forums and can't find anything regarding your experience on where to mount the fuckin things? Any advise would be much appreciated.

If you are asking how to mount your mobile phone , (so you can see things in real time), on your bike somewhere, I suppose a mounting bracket  for gps's would be the go....

No, I meant the actual FP3 while I am doing the auto tune and also if I decide to leave them mounted for a few months to ensure that a broad spectrum of the tuneable cells are captured

Should mount under the seat bear the battery as per instructions. Was like that, albeit a tight squeeze, when I had an older version fp on my fatboy. The size doesn't appear to have changed. I got rid of mine and replaced it with a proper tuner

I would have thought that the install instructions would have covered that off. My Thundermax had very detailed instructions as to where to put things as well as where to run each cable.

does it need to be on the bike for so long ?

I took mine out for a few hours to get a good range of measurements. Then flashed the results and took it off the bike. I just cable tied it to the pillion peg for the ride  ( not a FatBoy though )

Thanks for your responses thus far. The research I have done thus far indicates in many instances that there is simply not enough space under the seat and given that both the cable on the FP3 and the length of the CAN bus connector are both very short, it seems under the seat is really the only option. It might be that the device will be supplied with very clear instructions on where to mount it on our Fatboy's but I don't know yet because they have not yet arrived. I was hoping someone would have successfully installed one on a Fatboy Lo and could relate their actual experience. One lives in hope.

I am not sure how long it will take to auto tune, the research I have done indicates the longer the better, hence I'm thinking it will be installed for a little while until all the cells turn green.

From what I understand the autotune doesnt make any changes while monitoring the bike. You apply the changes at the end but it does give you the option of "apply and continue scanning".  I'm interested to know whether its better to regularly apply-and-continue , or wait until the end and then apply the changes. ( or perhaps it makes no difference ! )

So, FP3's arrived and 5 minutes later they were installed under the seat as some of you suggested. Thank you! The included mounting instructions are useless by the way!

U r correct dogo, but it must be mounted and connected to gather the auto tune data!,

10 minutes after I installed them they were flash upgraded and I had down loaded new maps to the ECM modules and was displaying live data, much of which I had no idea was available, or necessary and interesting? But I guess if you know what all the data means, it is useful.

I noticed on the SEST thread that that HD is having issues with the US EPA and that getting data is becoming difficult. For those of you that don't like the FP3 be aware that the latest firmware does support different aftermarket cam options and a number of other upgrades. I'll post some screen shots of the different options for anyone that's interested.

So I just uploaded a couple of screen shots for anyone that might be interested, if you guys want more let me know, but you could also download the app from the App Store and run it in demo mode. Let me know what you guys think.  I'll report back on our progress as time goes on.

The below shows the plethora of data available on the fly via the Bluetooth connection.

So, I gotta say that this device is magic! The V&H "stock" map immediately removed the decel popping! We've now done two shortish auto tune runs and I have to say that the 2012 is running better than it ever did, I will post and update after today's run with a screen shot, if possible.

So we got both FP3's installed and ran about 500km on both with auto tune turned on, flashed the new values and I have to say that both bikes run really well and smooth. No decel popping at all! We used only the presets to do the tuning because we don't know anything about tuning. Overall we are very pleased with the devices and our bikes are running very well.
