Well on Saturday i went to finish the work on the bike as I had recieved the last parts from the states for the exhaust. I had drained the all the oil last weekend in the bike & only put the gear oil back in, when I went to tighted up the drain plug for the motoroil & torque it well the the hole just gave up the ghost after 10 yrs. So shit what do I do a new pan $1300 from harley or a repair kit. I believe this happens a lot with our bikes due to people being heavy handed or not using the right tools or butcher mechanic that we have had work on bikes over the years. I rang around a few places & 2 harley dealers which were as usful as tits on a bull I then I got onto the old google & then call my local Boltmaster & yes I found what I needed to fix the problem once & for all. The Powercoil Part number: 3534-1/2K 1/2" UNF Repair Kit which suits my bike which is a 2007 FLHX Street Glide, I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to do this myself so I called my dad exit fitter & turner (Navy). Put it this way it took me longer to take the pan off than to do the repair with in 45min we repaired the 2 holes & now they are better than new. Here a few photo's for you the pack cost me $125 you might be able to get it cheaper but it was worth every dollar I hope when I put it all back new weekend when I get the new gasket & put it back together.

    Good one Rick,,
I've done same with similar solid inserts ... Did you smear the inserts with red loctite before install ??? If you did , you want to let the red loctite cure for 24 hours before installing and tightning drain plugs .... Now you have the primary to do,, Cheers....

No i didn't use any loctite as it wasn't said to be used so I will see what happens.

I had similar situation, Except with Injectors on My Truck back in 1991. Had to be back on road by Monday morning & this was Saturday arvo. Who ever invented these kits, have done a great justice.
Hope all works out good Rick.

Are those inserts wound wire ones or solid construction?

I have always used TimeSert (which also uses Red Loctite) but that because the only other option I could ever find was Helicoil - in which case you may as well use PVA glue for all the strength they offered.

This is wound wire, & it has torqued up with any issues & I will just keep an eye on it.
