Sloppy front end on 14' iron

I've noticed that after a long trip (800 odd Kms round) the steering on my sporty feels a little "swimy" especially

when gearing down or at low speeds between traffic. She's never run like this before. I put her on the lift and

checked for play in the tyre bearings as well as steering head bearings and all seems good. Tyre pressure is all

good and I'm wondering what else it could be? Have been meaning to fit some fork braces on her for a while but

I don't think that would stop the 'sloppy' feel of the front tyre to ground feel.

Any ideas, thoughts or imput thankfully invited.

    NR.

Check the rear wheel bearings and swing arm bushes as well.

If either of these are worn , your bike might feel like it does.

Check head stem preload,, HD call it "Fall away"
    .
That'll do it, if it needs adjusting.

    Engine mounts???

Gees NR, you'll have to sort it out before you get to all of the weekend rides that are coming up.

    Hope it's an easy solution.

Stews I've never heard of fall away but it seems like that might be the ticket. I'll dive into my workshop manual to educate myself on the matter and hopefully sort it out. I've got another big ride I have to do today from Melb to past Stawell that I've gotta do and no lift where I'm going. Reckon it's something that will keep for another 600 Kms? I don't think it's the rear bearings as the rear was off not so long ago and I went over that while I was there. Thanks for the quick diagnosis.

Is there anything else I should look at checking?

Yeah I'll be on it as quick as I can.
It's my only rolling vehicle ATM.
Been away on it though so haven't had time
    to hoist it up again.
