Locking your hog

I should lock my bike more often when I ride it to work. It's an old FXR so the key stays with me. Sometimes I put a grenade lock in my shoulder bag and lock the front disc. But do you lock your bike when out and about? And if you don't always have saddle bags on, what means do you use to lock your bike? Fork lock? Disc brake lock? Tips for something that could be thrown in the jacket pocket or small bag slung on the back (yeah, I am one of those guys with a leather murse on an obnoxious hog on the way to work; don't hate me)?

I use the key locks on the bike but unless I'm staying over night somewhere I don't bother with a disc lock, if I am then I carry a plain black bike cover and a disk lock.

But if someone knocks my bike off then the agreed value insurance will get me $ and I'll go and buy a new one so I don't worry about it too much.

Always use the key lock whenever I park it for a while and over night in the shed.

Also have a Kryptonite lock as well when on a trip.

I lock mine when I remember. Often just walk away like most others do, except they usually have fobs and so on. On my own it's always locked.

I use a master lock on the front forks, and when riding it locks around the stem of my rear footpeg. It's out of the way and happens to fit snuggly, so it doesn't rattle around.

I lock my old FXR everywhere as it has no immobiliser fitted. A padlock through each disk, one in the steering lock and an Abus through the chain sprocket locking the chain down. Plus a multistrand wire cable through the bike and around a tree where I happen to park. This may sound like overkill but the bike is out of my sight when I'm at work so its the best peace of mind i can get. When on the modern sporty I pretty much just hop off and walk away (worst case I'll lock the steering) - mind you the Sporty is insured while the FXR is not.

On my Old Dyna it was the 2010 model where the ignition was on the neck so to turn the bike off and remove you key it was one additional click of the lock.

I had aftermarket triple trees with no steering lock fitted so I just left it. By that stage it had 80+ thousand on the clock so I would have been better off if it were nicked.

I had a tiger snake sleeping under the Harley last summer in the garage.

Even I wasn't going to go near that one. Had to get the neighbour on the next property who is a WIRES handler to come and move the little chappy on.

I have a couple of hogs(or pigs as we call them in Australia)locked up down in the bottom paddock trying to fatten them up...My bike is in the shed next to the missus car with it's insurance all paid up...

Yeah, most insurers refused to offer an agreed value on my imported bike (brought in under personal import option) with non-original engine. Your locking system is like a defense-in-depth system!

I am stealing the multi strand cable idea. I've seen them before. The spot I park for work has some push-bike lockup loops embedd in the concrete...
