A quick question on exhausts

Hi all, a quick question regarding exhausts.

I have a set of Freedom Performance pipes and a Stage 1 Screamin Eagle kit on my Streety. The bike has been dyno'd for these extras.

The question is that when I go through rego for the first time I was thinking of putting the standard pipes back on, ride to the shop for the check, ride home and put the performance pipes back on.

This would be a distance of around 90 km in total. Would this be doing any damage to either the bike or the kit?

Alternatively there is a quiet baffle kit available for the pipes, should I probably head down this path instead.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

I had this issue some time ago, trailered the bike to the inspection centre,5 mins running time tops. Just another option Ric.

All that will happen is that the bike will run a bit rich for the trip. More restrictive exhaust flow. If you put quieter baffles in you are restricting the flow again. So no difference than putting on your stocks. For that amount of K's I doubt it would do any damage. Your ECU will be able to make small adjustments to the AFR during the trip.

I take it your in NSW ?? (I think ACT is different).. If so , ride it to your local motorcycle shop , (or other authorised workshop), as is, to get you safety check.... Unless your exhaust system is obnoxious, they wont give it a second thought .. I have Freedom Performance Racing 4 inch mufflers, (not the quiet baffle) ,, they are a nice sounding muffler, but definitely not obnoxious ....
Regarding your question,,, "if i change back to stock mufflers, coming from a stage 1 tuned bike with a specific exhaust system, will I / could I, damage the engine, if I ride it for, say a couple of hundred kms" ??? My answer to that is NO.... Personally ,, I dont think any "damage would occur if you left the stock mufflers on indefinitely .. Maybe a pop here and there ,, but you asked about damage !!!! Some experts on here may have other opinions .....

    Hi all
thanks for the replies, all good info.

@ FXST11, I didn't realise that I have 5 years grace before fronting up for an inspection, only thought I had 1 year. Quite a weight of my mind. That give me time to plan things out a bit more

Shows you how long it's been since I've had a new bike. 30+ years actually.

    Cheers

Same as the West, once it licensed that's it. Unless the Johnny Hoppers whack a sticker on it, then it's over the pits. That must be a pain in the arse having to do that shit yearly with a bike or car

I reckon NSW must be the only state left with yearly rego checks by the sounds of it.

In the NT inspections are required after five years for new vehicles, then every year from then on. We no longer have rego stickers for light vehicles and can register a vehicle for one month at a time if you so choose. Which is handy when you do not use a vehicle very often like a trailer of second car/bike or are broke.
