Had a few more looks at the video, and this is my take of what could have been a better outcome ....

Riding on a busy street, with oncoming traffic built up and at a stand still, with blind side roads everywhere on the right ,,, I think it would be good practice, (as there were two lanes),, to ride in the left hand lane as much as possible.... With on coming traffic at a standstill , all you need is a car door to open for shit to happen,, never mind a car trying to weave through stopped traffic from a blind off street from the right ... If the bikes were in the left lane, it may have given them more time for evasive action ,, and given the car driver more time to see them... Riding in the left lane, (under the above circumstances), still requires to be fucking alert,, but you have a better visual of the fucknuts coming from the right and left .... Of course, speed has a lot to do with it, whatever situation your in when city/town riding ..... The good news is , both riders seem ok , and hopefully be riding again in the not to distant future !!!!!!

Happens every second day in Melbourne, and your right Mark, back into the left with oncoming traffic.

I'd like to think that most accidents can be avoided, that one looked hard to avoid. The second guy got into the next lane but she kept coming across as well. That stopped traffic is real dangerous and I guess if it was me I would be looking at anywhere there was a space for a car to come across just as this lady has done. Scanning traffic and dangers, can't trust anyone. At list they were all right, not so the bikes.

Cripes ! those blokes did not really have a chance of avoiding that.

Thank goodness it did not kill them, but I'd bet my bottom dollar it fucken hurt and the poor blokes will have ongoing health issues.

The accident you have is the one you did not see a coming no matter who you are or how good a rider you may be.

In a strange way that seems to add to the appeal of motorcycles. We all know the risks AND take the chances.

I've done that on a bicycle and the cops booked me for being on the left hand side of the road and not taking up the whole road. Figure that.
Having done 100's of 1000 of K's on a motorbike and bicycle in Sydney and having experience, I'd do have to say that those guys were going to fast in the wrong lane.
She was trying to cut through traffic and should of prepared for an accident relative to the situation. If it had of been a Skyline or something as low, the outcome would of been the same.
Good thing the boys are alright. Has anyone else ever done a somersault in peak hour traffic?

I agree Left lane would be the go ..but it didnt look like she was going to stay in the right lane anyway ...she cut straight across the rd ..
like i have said many a time, just because you have a licence dont meen you can drive...

I agree, the left lanes the best but I think others factors wereat play here. These guys where taking off from the lights. Most bike rider wouldn't be in the left lane at the lights behind that car with the cam if the right lane was free, he was driving really slow. 15 seconds from the lights this car comes across. Because they didn't leave the lights beside the car with the cam there've lane filtered up just before the accident. Both riders are very experienced riders on the road and on the track and active members of other forums and members of the R1 club. The guy that got hit first just got his license back that week before this. It looks like they just got into the right and giving two riders working together in one lane very little time to get back into the left lane. 10seconds

I used to live in the street that the car came out from (Navigator St. Maribyrnong... The riders were West bound on Raleigh Rd.)
Navigator St. is also home to an Ethiopian Orthodox church of which this young lady is a member, and where she was coming from.
These people lack any form of driving skill!!... They are dead-set, bloody HOPELESS! Practically every Sunday they cause an accident or a near miss on that corner.
How any of em got an Aussie driving license, I'm buggered if I know!
Good to hear the 2 guys got out of it relatively unscathed.
