As i understand it and have read on overseas HD dealer websites ,HD dealers are not allowed as per HD policy to sell genuinr HD parts outside of their country of origin.

Has anyone imported OEM HD parts from overseas and has there been significant savings.

looing to import OEM CVO breakout tank console and associated parts with an AUD cost of $960

goto any US HD dealer site and check FAQ re: shipping outside USA and they all say NO due to HD Factory policy but i read a forum post here from 2013 where a member regularly imported from USA due to $$ savings so im a little confused as to wether its possible ..perhaps some disregard policy ??  so far all ive contacted said NO

    You can't do it.

They put a stop to it a few years ago. One or two dealers over in the USA kept doing it for a while longer but then they abruptly stopped too. If you know somebody in the states or have one of those mail redirecting services over there you could still do it.

Was over there this time last year.

With the $AUS where it is your saving nothing. Some items work out a bit dearer.

The days of getting genuine OEM parts on the cheap are well and truly over.

I have bought parts direct from HD Dealers in the US, but that was a few years back now. Bought a genuine HD seat from a dealer and saved $260, and this was after the shipping cost was added.. I think now the prices are not too bad once you do the conversion cost and add shipping prices are OK.

Some folks do buy parts in the states BUT use a local USA dropbox/forward service. Essentially the Dealer posts the parts to a USA address which then on-forwards them to you in AU. Its a fairly common thing and there are some genuine players in this area. They normally charge you the International postage PLUS a percentage of the cost of the goods as a 'commission'. Even with the postage and commission parts can still be far cheaper than buying locally!

I bought some genuine HD parts from a dealer in the UK no isssues, the said parts were no longer available in Australia and the local dealer checked the other delaers stock ( australia wide). Just to be sure i rang an interstste delaer and was told exactly the same thing.
