Just wanted to say fuck you Australia post.  I've been an advocate for them in the past, especially in regard to them being blamed for shit that other people do, but no more.  This new "pay more for good service" shit is fucked up beyond belief.  I haven't had a package or mail arrive in a timely fashion since it started.  Businesses seem to see this as a great way to save cash, as you would expect, so I don't blame them.  So now I have to pay for other mail couriers so I don't reward the money grubbing fuckwads at Aus Post.

They could have just raised prices slightly instead of creating a "Chinese new year mail system".  But on second thought, at least the Chinese get their shit mail service for free.

In conclusion, I'd like to repeat, fuck you Australia post.

We still use mail for about 50% of the invoicing at work and about 50% of payments are made by cheque.

Work has had to adopt a policy of paying the extra for Priority so our payments arrive on time, however many of our customers haven't done the same and we're seeing a lot of variability in delivery times since the new 2 tier postage system has started.

This is a bit of a resurrection of a old old post.......but like most of us who have bought a part from overseas it hard to believe you can get the part into Australia in just a few days but it takes 3 weeks to get it the final 100klm with Aust post. Saw this today....
Just because the taxpayer backstops you doesn’t give you the right to pay way over the odds to retain staff. Take Australia Post’s actions as a prime example.
As reported in The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, a Senate estimates committee this week heard “thirty-one Australia Post employees who earned a base salary between $300,000 and $400,000 took home, on average, a “short-term incentive” bonus of $168,000 in 2020-21 – an increase of 22% on bonuses paid to employees in that salary band the previous year.” Bonuses of up to $500,000 were also paid to retain staff with “specialised skill sets”, warding off the apparent threat of being poached by the private sector.
The mail used to be an essential service, but that’s now disputable given advancements in technology. And just because you’ve had a good year thanks to rolling lockdowns doesn’t give you the right to plunder the taxpayer. It’s just another parcel delivery service. Rather than compete against the private sector, it should be subject to the forces faced by the private sector. These latest revelations show that Australia Post should be privatised. Protect regional services, and then we’ll get an accurate indication of how valuable these staff genuinely are.
