Gee you blokes,,, All this talk about f-cking stripped torx bolts.... Changing the primary oil in the old girl today ,,,, I always take it easy removing the derby cover bolts ,,, adjusted the clutch etc,,, poured the oil in ,,, now buttoning up the derby cover ,,,, everything is going to plan,,, then,,, f-ck me dead,,, the thread in one of the holes is stripped ,, shit .....
The good news is ,,, about 6 months ago, a mate had a couple of stripped threads , came over my place with the helicoil kit to suite, and left the kit in my garage ,,,.. drill ,, tapped ,, installed helicoil with a drop of red loctite ,,, all good .... Installed the derby cover ... Then I thought ,, f-ck it ,,, removed the derby cover and installed helicoil in all holes ,,, Pissed off the torx bolts and replaced with allen head bolts to suite .... Happy as ....

That sucks markwoulma! If only they made the recess deeper in the Torx bolts it would be that much better!!!

I don't understand why any company would fit Torx to their products. They've gotta be the most unstable bastard of a bolt head ever designed. Everything Torx on mine gets replaced with Allen heads if I need to remove them. Sooner or later Torx are gonna turn a quiet afternoon in the shed into a shitshow. Nothin' surer.

Even the old Allen head bolt can trash your day

I've found that these easyouts tend to be a lot more effective than the other threaded type, they can be bashed in and heated up and wrenched on hard without snapping like the round types tend to, bite in better too.
