Certainly not something that happens to 'all HDs'.

Do you live in a seaside suburb?

let me guess, also the headlight bracket too. I don't think I've seen a sporty without rust there. Welcome to HD ownership, where you pay 20 odd thousand for a bike with shoddy powercoating, Loctite so sparingly used you would think it's the great depression and engines that make so little hp per CC you think there is something wrong.

yet I couldn't imagine life without one :)

No rust on my 2008 SG.

Rust so soon is certainly not acceptable. Take them to task.

I live right on the coast, one street back from the water and my bike has just had its 3rd birthday - no rust at all. I do keep it in the garage with a bike cover over it though and I polish it after every run. I would be pissed off if I were you.

If it's under warranty, take it back. Parts should either be replaced or fixed, preferably replaced. And warranty resetting for those replaced/fixed parts.
If the dealer spins shit, go to HD Australia. These bikes aren't cheap and there's no excuse for that happening to an expensive, brand new bike

Whoops just realised he left too Tim. But I guess this could be potentially of benefit to others anyway

my 2008 sporty doesnt have rust like that...2016 id take that sucker back in and demand it be fixed free of charge... that is bullshit for that to happen on a new bike
