Hypercharger minus vac attachment?

    Hi all,

I picked up a Kuryakyn Hypercharger part # KA9992 the other day for an extremely good price.  Now not knowing a lot about these jiggers the guy said it was all complete.  Having looked closer and read instructions on line, I notice there is no vac attachment gadget that connects to the IAC unit and the MAP sensor to allow the operation of the butteflies at the front of the hypercharger.  That being said, the bike is an 07 fatboy stock except for V&H 2 into 1 and a V&H naked air cleaner and V&H tuner there are no other mods.

I imagine that I can buy the vac attchment through Kuryakyn but is there an issue if in fact the butterflies at the front of the air cleaner dont operate?  I have read posts where people have fited them and basically just left the vac attachment off !!

Opinions. ideas or abuse please !! :-)

Thats a gross insult to ashtrays! Best bet is to put it on eBay and hope someone is actually willing to pay for it!

Don't know what the iac or map sensor has to do with the operation of the butterfly's on
The hyper charger you normally just hook into a vacuum line or tap a thread into the
Inlet manifold and screw a fitting in for direct vacuum or not than thay stay open
So is it missing the vacuum module on the back of the hypercharger?

No perthhog the module is there, I was looking at instructions on line for the installation today and they mention an adapter. Having said that I have found more instructions saying to tap into the inlet manifold. I really dont care if the butterflies work or not I just like the look of the air cleaner itself. It suits the bike.
Quite obviously there are others on the forum that dont like them.
That being said, maybe they can throw some weight into their school boy blackboard comments to amuse me further.

The vacuum thing is a bit of a gimmick with them anyway. It opens and closes the trap door with throttle but if it's not rigged up like yours, the trap door simply stays open.

Do you not need to have the trap doors open so that air can get into the engine or is there another air inlet point on the cover somewhere?

I'm an old school S&S teardrop fan myself (or a custome Ramflow on the Sporty)

Yeah the doors do need to be open tussuck, but when its not connected to vacuum they just stay open anyway so might just leave it as is with them open.

As I said before the doors open by vacuum and as you said there open when the engine is not running
Or the vacuum line hooked up even if thay where closed there are other ports for the air to enter
Depending on which model you have and yep thay are a blingey thing you ether don't mind them
Or think there shit the adaptor your talking about my be for it to bolt up to the throttle body as thay make these
To suit cv carb , efi and s&s carbs
