Loads of information on this site. Have a 2016 softail slim 103 which I'm really happy with. Wondering what the consensus is out there in regards to stock cams that seem to rely on nylon tensioners which you'd expect will wear out vs upgrading to gear driven cams. I dont ride fast or hard just like to see things at my own pace so its not a huge jump in power or torque that I'm after [ although that'll be a pleasant by product ] Rather, I'm just eliminating what could be a potential problem in these standard tensioners wearing down or possibly breaking. Have put 2000km's on this bike so far and only added screaming eagle slip ons, breather and super tuner. The Slim will be a long term ownership so if spending a few $$ now might prevent a bigger spend down the track I probably wouldn't hesitate. Any info would be appreciated whether it be for or against an upgrade. These engines might be so reliable that I'd only be wasting dollars. Gives me something to think about while the winter sets in and keeps the Slim in the shed!
Just replaced my hydraulic cam tensioners in my 96" tc.92,000 kms old, serviced regularly and not thrashed. One was 2/3rds worn through, the other about half way. Hope this helps.
