Disc locks (even with alarms) are just good for keeping the fuckwits and winos away from your bike. Just get insurance.

It is fun to have a button that sets off the alarm though. You park ur bike in a busy place and when some idiot decides he can touch it you set it off and watch them fall backwards...good times.

got a sca disc lock, with a cord that hooks to the clutch lever for a reminder, wont stop anyone from stealing the bike but if theres only 1 or 2 it will slow them a bit other wise the insurance will cover most of it

I had an Oxford disc lock with an alarm in it, the batteries needed changing every 6 months or so and I ended up replacing it with a standard Oxford disc lock without battery which is a bit less bulky and seems just as strong.

Not sure if 09 Fat Boy's have them, but I use the 'key locks' on the current model HD's (inside the ignition switch & on the side of the steering stem) if needs be -- they seem just as good as my old disc lock, though the physical presence of a disc lock is a deterrent I would imagine.

Anyone with some experience on the utility of the current installed HD locks? Those, with the alarm & immobiliser & locks & a protective dog & insurance in a secure garage, are sufficient for me.

If ya end up getting one, make sure it has a loud audible alarm in it.

Gives the crooks something to think about while they're unbolting the wheel,,,,,

P.S. Oh, I found the Xena the best.

Cheers. I think they are a useful bit of kit.

Just read your sig block on what you've done to your ride - get two disc locks; that baby worth stealing!!

if some screeming fuckwit thief had checked out your bike and had stolen many bikes, it would take 5 minutes to swap wheels to remove the lock.
I'd say, a disc lock is only a deterrent to the opportunist

I was thinking of maybe trialing one of these new anti theft devices,
looks a bit cumbersome but should be effective, especially if operated by keyfob from a distance.

May need some work on the mounting position though.
