Pulling the trigger on a hog is getting closer, as the hand break thinks about our new house and packing of furniture after the sale of our current house, all that is going through my melon is getting back on a bike. Have a huge saved bike list on bikesales, gumtree, Tradingpost, every trip to Adelaide I go into the hog shop to ponder Can not shake the Rocker from my list of bikes 2011 Rocker C Could I ask you mob some questions on the bike about every day requriments as I am all over the place with my choice and can only afford to own one bike, an yes a tour bike most likely is what I should have but my choise first of all is the Rocker Awesome looking bike
My needs are: One or two weakends away per year two up with the hand break she weighs 50kgs Im 90 Touring with the crew for weaks several times a year Like most I like to lean on the throttle are they pigs to handle in the twisties Big on tinkiring away in the shed with the bike My bike is my choise to use for quick runs to pub, shops so on The rocker is the look I want, but am concerned about its durabelity Thanks bloodog
Bloodog, the durability of the rocker would probably be unquestionable. Well it'd be the same as any other 2011 bike, which is to say it should (in theory) be fine. The problems for engines, gearboxes, suspension etc generally get ironed out very quickly so I don't see a lot of issue on that front. Your questions on the other points would best be answered from reading a review or two. I did a bit of research on the breakout prior to buying my Slim S, and the biggest positive for the breakout was the improved handling (they perceived the breakout as an improved rocker).
Try these reviews and see how you go:
https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2010/11/16/2011-harley-davidson-rocker-c-review/
That one more or less says they don't handle very favorably around twisty roads, and are a bit of a chore on the freeway. The review mentions the rocker isn't the best touring bike.
http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/2011/01/article/2011-harleyrocker-c-comparison-review/
That one is a comparison review against a Yamaha, but the crux of the information is the bike review itself. Again not very glowing remarks on the handling.
Mate I'm not trying to be a downer: in the end if you like it, get it. These reviews may help, and I am sure someone that owns one may add their penny's worth.
Thanks Heaps all... and for your work spacewolf, have not had time to look up yet, will do asap. Went into hog shop today and they had a blue 2008 in the work shop could not throw a leg over but had a good look at one in the flesh any more help will be much appreciated as always thanks HD forums
