Hi All, hope you've all had a great weekend
I have just upgraded the front end on my 2010 Street Bob and I am happier than when the Victoria's Secret lingerie event comes on TV.
Having raced motocross and track before, I found the stock harley fork and brake set up to be not what I needed. The front tyre on the bike was toast as well so that was upgraded (along with the rear)
I also added new wheels bearings too.
The following components were used, the links to these components are below in the description
1. Tyre: Avon Cobra

2. Front brake set up : Performance Machine 6 piston differential bore caliper and matching Performance Machine Disc with upgraded Master Cylinder (9/16 to 11/16) and braided brake line.

1. The Tyre.
I wanted to the most agressive, performance based tyre I could for my bike. Tyre longevity was not a concern to me, I don't ride two up and I wanted performance.
The Avon Cobra was on top of the list after listening to feedback from different sources, sure it doesn't last as long as some but it is great tyre in my books. Good feed back, no slippage around tight corners, feels great under braking, good feel in the wet and a nice compound to grip well.
2. Front Brake Set Up.
I needed allot more stopping power than what the standard caliper offered, luckily a few friends had both the 4 and 6 piston PM's.
The differential bore means the brakes come on gradually but there is some major stopping power on hand. I have not locked the front once since the upgrade either. Sensational upgrade IMO. No brake dive in, great lever feel the whole way through range of motion and looks mad too!
Chalk and Cheese compared to the stock caliper, the master cylinder upgrade allows more brake fluid to work the pistons and a braided brake line is a must I believe for this application
Adjustable preload, each fork handles a different function and the rdsults are stellar. I can hold a line into corners with no loss of feel through the front, it makes you feel glued to the ground at times which brings a big smile to your face when tipping it into a long flowing corner, yet slower speed is made much smoother also.
No longer do I have death wobbles, teeth chatters or lack of feel, set it up to your liking and rock and roll.
Overall, I am so happy with the set up choices I made. I have the feel I want with the braking power and handling to put a big grin on my face.
A big thanks to my mechanic Dean at Loaded Motorcycles in Kirrawee, NSW for the install and set up: He is a true professional and an elite mechanic, he is also one of the best blokes you will ever meet.
Thanks to Shaun at Titan Bike and Trike in Hobart, Tasmania for his expert advice and invaluable feedback.
If you have any questions I am happy to discuss in detail.
To finish up, the only complaint I have is my that my new (2 days old) pegs hate this set up haha!
