finally got a pic to stick up...  . the stock units are no longer in production. and they are a pain in the arse.   this is an improvement (in my opinion..theres always someone who wants to argue  lol) with up to date technology. for less..

the handlebar interface is a  scosche  unit which is what you would find in a car with steeringwheel controls.   this particular unit can run alpine, clarion, jvc, panasonic kenwood and sony/pioneer. (with slight modification)

i chose the kenwood for the options quality and price ( im an electronics technician by trade).

all the components were purchased form the USA. even with freight its much cheaper.

i could supply and install the whole shabang for $400 and youll even get a remote.

beets the hell out of the $650 to rebuild the stock unit  and that youll have to pay freight to the USA and back... and those shitters weigh heaps.  i did buy some new output chips for the stock units. but decided its not worth the hassle of swaping them out  even though they were only about $2 each from china, the unit is shit  lol

the set up will work in most if not all baggers 2 or 4 speakers from 1998-2013

without any certainty, as i cant see it..id say its going to die. probably sooner than later.. these stock units are an overpriced overweight piece of junk.  built solid  but nasty.  great for thowing at someone you dont like.  i think the rigidness of the unit  combined with HD vibes  isnt a good match....

Not knocking your choice of unit (I'm sure it's got great audio) but I'm wondering how a non water resistant car unit is going to handle things if it's raining?

Do you have a weather cover?

ok   i have found a link to where you can buy a kit which does what i did to mine.. one kit even uses a kenwood head unit similar to the one i chose.. but they have quite a few to choose from..  the kit with the similar unit is $190 US ...   how good is that!!!!!... and its from a company i have dealt with before and they know there stuff.. and it comes almost plug and play using quality deutch plugs (if i spelt that right)

as i told those i PMd the only mod you would have to do is find the wires for the rear speakers (if you have them) and connect them to the outputs as they are in a different plug

i have all the info on doing that here..

the colour code for the wiring changed after 2013 i think..i have the newer loom diagrammes here also.. the wire can be found in another plug in the batwing so you dont have to run new wires.. for the cost of a self adressed return envelope and $5 im happy to send photos, diagrammes  and some waterproof connectors for the job.

    wheres the link you ask???????

i cant post it on here for some reason.

anyone who can post a link  that wants to PM me an email addy  so i can email it to you to post below?????
