Previous years I have noticed US getting their new models in mid August, ours is usually early September. It differs from year to year tho.

I think they have their dealer release show in July where they announce next years models for the US market... most but not all are usually available in Oz

In 2012 when I bought my Slim, I ordered it and paid my deposit off a photo in late June. At the time, I lived in Mackay, Qld and the dealership hadn't even heard of it but Gasoline Alley had shipped one over from their sister store in Canada and a friend took a photo of it the day it came out on display...I rang them immediately and ordered it. By early August, dealerships were aware of the 'new' FLS release and I received my Slim in the first shipment in early September, the date of compliance is 09/2012. I picked it up on 21/09/2012 (10 days after it arrived in Australia) and recall being told when handed the keys there wasn't another one out on the road at the time...in Qld at least. By October, most dealerships had them in store and were taking orders. At the time, when friends were talking about the new Slim just on the market, mine was already having its first service.

    Nice work Jules.

I used to live in Mackay (Northview Gardens and then Marian in one of the new subdivisions). Plenty of wonderful roads around that town...my Buell rear tyre used to wear on the edges more than the middle of the tyre. Do you ride with the red shirts much?

Used to be that new models were officially presented in USA at Sturgis first week of August.

Takes a couple months for the roll out in Oz. First shipments and availability starts here around Dec Jan usually, if your lucky, with bilk of latest models arriving Jan Feb March of year of model. Seen some take up to April before delivery.

I lived out at Marian also...transferred out in late August 2012 and moved to Toowoomba.

Picked my bike up at the end of my first month down here and have never ridden around Mackay or surrounds, other than passing through on my way further north.

Usually prefer to ride alone...not adverse to company if it happens along but not into the regime of designated stops/starts/breaks etc. I do a lot of longer distance riding and much rather dance to my own drum.

Some interesting posts on one of the yank forums about some changes being made which may become known in July. It suggests that the twin cam has reached the end of its life. Rumour has it a new engine will be released being a 107ci push rod with 3-4 cams. If it doesn't happen for 2017, then maybe for 2018. Twin cam engine been around for a while now so maybe it's not so unbelievable

After a quick google there's a few sites with varying levels of decent information.

    This link: http://www.hdforums.com/forum/general-harley-davidson-chat/1114276-inside-rumor-for-2017-a-10.html

talks about an exhaust for a slingshot engine destined for the 2017 FL series (touring bikes), and a new Harley engine that sort of looks like the Nova. Also mentions dealers have been told to move all their existing touring stock with massivley lowered finance rates and pricing.

I've read a lot of rumour stuff but the link hilly put up has some input by a poster named harleytuner which has some interesting content. He suggests 107 ci pushrod with 4 valves and 3-4 cams, and oil cooled which is unexpected. If a new engine design is to be released later in the year for mass production, apparently it needs to be registered around July with the USA authorities.

High volume oil cooling (not just add on oil coolers like some of the existing bikes) would certainly improve engine temperature control and delay having to go liquid cooled.

Suzuki did something similar with the 1200 Bandit motors back in the day (and they're a pretty reliable motor even after mods for high power output).

I could live with oil/air cooling but liquid cooling would annoy me.
