    Yes and this is now starting to happen as the amplification required to extend the signal is available. People arent just exposed when you're at home but work or anywhere else where you're reasonably nearby. Smart crooks will watch activity closely at car parks, watching which people get out of which manufactured cars and watch/follow where those people go. This gives them greater capability and safety in stealing the car.

    Easiest and cheapest way to prevent this from happening is a properly insulated bag like a 'faraday bag' which may stop signals from being compromised.

    Looks like its back to the old days with a good length of mining chain and a bloody big padlock slung over the shoulder.
    That will freak the coppers out. LOL.

    You will still need the key if you lock your handlebars or steering wheel in the lock position.
