Just bought my first Harley and I'm wanting to know if it's a 96 or 103ci. It's a 2011 FatBob. Air cleaner says 103 but all of the searches I have done say it's a 96ci. Is there anything obvious external on the engine that identifies the size?
Fatbat, what is the acr. Is that inside or outside of the heads? Seller didn't know a lot about the bike. He only owned it for 12 months and said he hadn't changed anything in his ownership. I think the air cleaner cover might have been replaced with a 103 cover.
Automatic Compression Release. A little solenoid valve in the top of each head to release the pressure in the combustion chamber until the engine fires up.
This picture shows the ACR's wires protruding from the middle cavity of the heads so hard to see when covered by the rocker boxes and the tank.
Thanks for your replies. I suppose at the end of the day it doesn't really matter. Love my new bike be it a 96 or 103ci.
Thanks. That nailed it. I don't have an M in my vin at all. Unless it's had a 103ci kit it's a 96ci.
Fuck all difference between a stock 96 and a stock 103 anyway.
