Opinions on build.

Just looking for opinions/suggestions. Completed my top end build on my Breakout about two months ago, 103 plateau honed, SE 10.5:1 forged pistons, cometic .30 HG, stock heads cleaned up with 19+ inlet and stock size exhaust valves, .600 lift valve springs, TW 555 cams, woods directional lifters, fuel moto adjustable push rods, SE heavy breather, SEPST, D&D bobcat 2 into 1 full system, stock throttle body (For torque).

Took it over to Jim at Cow's for a dyno, Torque = 104.17, HP = 94.15. The fucken thing rides real nice and cracks! My question is, do these numbers seem about on the money for the build? And, the correction factor was STD smoothing 5, last time I dynoed the bike correction factor SAE 5 was used, would the correction factor make a difference? They were pretty busy, could the dyno have acheived better numbers or should I be happy, seems like blokes with similar builds get a bit more. Opinions please.

Mate that is pretty consistent with what I see over here in WA, Hard to break 100HP with pretty well stock heads

Cheers Ando, Cow worked the heads over but stock cc is the same. Like I said, bike feels good and pulls hard.

its a mild build so seems about right.

    stock throttle body for torque?

I don't agree with that belief at all. It's more to do with how well it is tuned

Hey Robots would the SE 259 have more lift than the TW 555's? Don't want any clearance issues, Thans fer the replies men.

100hp and over seems rare unless you have headwork, bigger throttle body and bigger injectors. Or you could find a happy dyno to tell you what you want to hear but they're just numbers open to variation

That stage 2 bike with 255 cams making 100hp and 118 flb is either a freak or its a happy dyno

The se259 cam might only move your curves a bit to the right (less Street friendly)

Your bike seems about right so if it rides well and makes you happy...

from the description in the first post there is headwork, 1.9? intake valve, 10.5 pistons, 0.3 head gasket

if you have changed to 0.6 springs then the SE259 cam(0.585) will slot in, you could sell the 555 pretty easy,

the 2-1 is a good fit

Someone with knowledge about trap speeds might be able to give an estimate on power but so many variables with drag times and speeds too.

I suspect there's more to "it's all in the tune". Settings, correction, gear used all play a part. Most 255 cam changes for a 103 will see hp in the eighties and torque in the nineties or low hundreds. Maybe your tuner knows something everybody across the world doesn't. But as long as you're happy.

This is a classic example of how dyno comparisons and numbers don't always work. I'm sober and don't believe that a 10.5 comp 103 with mild headwork and .555 cams performs worse than a stock.103 with se255 cams. The tuner kaos has used is reputable and no idiot.

The ET and MPH point to slightly lower HP than the sheet shows, but too many variables to guess.
Does Maztech still use a car Dyno for tuning bikes ?

I have 3 different gauges to test the air pressure in my tyres.

    They all show different results.

Dynos I believe also show different results from one to another.

Using vacuum gauges to syncronise carbies you dont worry about the readings, you just make sure each is equal.

No matter how many HP you have there is going to be someone who can ride better than you with less.

Thanks for all the responses, Cow even said his dyno under reads a bit. Seat of the pants tells me its all good. Should keep me happy for a while.

take it for power run on another dyno, most dealers charge $60 for 3-4runs

din, std & sae are correction factors for the running of a dynamometer at different temps, humidity and pressure

sae generally the lowest figures, STD will produce 2-4% higher dependent on the temp, humidity and pressure
