    G'day everyone,

Been thinking of moving to a Heritage for some touring comfort.  I find I'm going for longer rides these days and the apes on the FXST get tiresome after a few hours on the highway, not too mention a sore but from the crap std. Seat.  I have seen quite a few nice ''09 - '11 rides for sale and wondering if it is worth going for a 103 over a 96 - price wise they are pretty similar but there are more 96's out there.

Would be interested in comments from anyone who has gone from a 96 to a103 and what difference they found (if any).  Probably wouldn't be going past a stage 1, performance mods wise.

    Thanks in advance

A heritage isn't much different rom a softail standard. You could change the bars and seat on your bike, add a screen and bags and make it every bit as comfortable and practical as the heritage without the hassle of selling, buying, trading etc.

Or you could buy a tourer which really are good. Coming off a softail they are better in everyway except for maybe looks.

Re 96 v 103, there are 103 bikes around for same cost as 96 so if go.for 103. Id also try and get abs if possible. Difference in performance between 96 and 103 is minor

Thanks for the replies and constructive comments chaps.  I will probably go for a 103 (with ABS) as probably the cost to upgrade mine to Heritage specs would be around the same as a trade/sell for a later model and I'd still have basically the aame bike.  There are a few good ones available around Sydney ATM, plus a nice '12 Ebony/Sungold model with a 110 stage 4 kit at Orange smiley
