Those that do a lot of Touring,   When you rock up at a motel/pub/cabin which does not have particularly good security for your parked bike, such as street or open area car park (as per motels). Yes the bike has comp' insuranced, but thats not going to be a lot of help when your out in the middle of nowhere and your ride is gone.

Do you use chains, disclocks or other when you have to leave the bike?

A piece of fishing line tied to your toe?
I always go away with a group and their snores probably scare any would be off.
But seriously I only rely on the bikes alarm. Oh, and the number of other, better bikes around so hopefully they don't take mine. We usually manage to have them undercover or around the back or locked up in a yard.
Never had an issue so far and never heard of any of the other blokes having an issue either. Only been doing it for 32 years so far, but I suppose there is always that chance.

My Club sticker on the front tends to keep the fingers away. I even leave my helmet on it when I am away and nothing goes amis.

I have a disk lock, it's wouldn't stop a serious thief but it's better than nothing and I try and find space in my packing for a (not marked Harley) bike cover because I suspect Harleys might be more attractive to bike thieves.

I try to park the bike right in front of the room against the wall and leave the window slightly open. Tie a bit of cotton or fishing line to an empty stubby or bottle on the window ledge ??

marz,i bought a disc lock from sca, looks the same [and color 2] but a bit cheaper than the hd one.i know if there are enough of " them " they will just drag/lift it, but it might deter some.agree that insurance will replace lost item, but its a long walk home when touring.every one will have their own ideas on how they look after their pride and joy.cheers

Plain Black cover works for me plus the steering lock and alarm, I have parked the CVO in some areas a fair way from my accomodation.

i don't think the fear of "god" would work on all crooks lofty.

My Cross Bones didn't have an alarm, so i used a big f/off chain and Kryptonite padlock to another bike.

The Street Glide is to heavy to lift and has factory alarm. Lock the steering and panniers and walk away.

Parking next to 'better' bikes helps too ;)

Besides if it goes walkabout I get a new one :) :)

Bike alarm + disc lock + plus non-descript cover work for me. And don't leave your key/s/fob in the your room while you hit the frog down the road.

Was in peter Stevens Adelaide yesterday to pick up a pair of glove liners for the SB run.  They had disc locks on sale there, $15 (down from 40) brand is "OnGuard". Got myself one to throw in the pannier in case I ever need it.
