Probably a good market to test.

 Although .... I'm sure I read somewhere, that HD is the 'biggest seller' in Aus !

Not sure what idea they are floating with that, assuming HD HQ was even involved. The adventure market seems to be flooded with all sorts and styles of bikes for people to choose from, all with a shed load more electronics etc and experience making such bikes than HD has to offer. Interesting idea though...

pauly,that front axle looks like a honda ag bike left over,hope the axle diameter is larger than the bolt hex.luggage "looks ok" but durabilty would be the test there,particularly on our central australia back roads after days on end torture.

There is a burgeoning cross trail market in Thailand. At the recent Phuket Bike Week, I saw heaps of KTM’s as well as the usual Jap bikes. The 750 targets this market and does not attract the taxes that the litre bikes do. I’ll post up some price comparisons later

Cost and tank size is what would interest me. Considering Honda have just released there CR1000 Africa Twin which which will no dought be hugely popular in the adventure bike market. And seriously cheaper than a BMW. Even the old discontinued Honda Africa Twin 650s, still pull a good resale value if you can find one. And they where discontinued some years ago.

Pauly - I see your point about pushrods etc but to me a suitable traction control set up would fit in as easily as fuel injection and ABS did. Most people couldn't even tell the bike has it and would be able to turn it off if don't like it. SE would offer a track use only option and make $$ out of it. Easy evolution that I reckon is worthwhile for HD to do in the tech front without over complicating things or sacrificing history. On the other hand I will admit that I dig that my HD isn't overflowing with tech!

I reckon the bike 78gold posted is a lot closer to the mark. If Harley do a pseudo off road bike then it should be retro styled, something like a scrambler style version of a sportster.

Not sure mate my memory escapes now and then.
I know it was built inhouse and I think it may have been for sale but not sure now.

Would have loved to have it in my shed, enjoy the dirt on my lowrider, this thing would have been "sick" "Bad" "Unreal" or whatever the term is for fun these days.

Not sure the old bones would have been too happy though.

Decided to start building a Harley Adventure bike like this one.

^ I caught up with Richie a few days ago and asked the question "Harley Davidson had no input whatsoever in the build".........The design was all Richies and he funded it through his Richco Harley Davidson business. ..........He built the bike in 6 weeks as it was a biker build off against his opposition (Powersports Bangkok Harley Davidson) ...........Having a look at the bike in the workshop and you can see the detail that has gone into it, the quality is first class.


Custom made rear mono shock rear swing arm with adjustable Ohlins shock, stainless exhaust exiting under the seat, still had the harley sound to it when revved up, hand made fuel tank, the list goes on and on as you can imagine. He plans to use the bike for his personal use btw.
