Just put a 888 Marathon on my Road King. Was surprised at the difference over the original Dunlop. Feels much more sure footed when leaning and turning. Smooth transition from straight up to full lean and back up. The original Dunlop tended to feel like it had to be worked to get it over from straight up into a lean. Then it would hit a point and then topple over. The 888 lean was smooth as, up and down. Hoping to get more than 11,000 kms on the 888 as well.
FYI - I knew I wanted the metzeler 888 and rang Auburn MCAS. I was quoted $310 and $150 more if it was on the bike. I actually live closer to the Taren Point store and when ready to order, rang them and they quoted me $255 and around $$100 more if it was on the bike. The stores had different labour rates as well? Sounded good to me and I never intended to have them take it off. Ordered it and brought the wheel to them. $55 cheaper from one store over the other ?? Only thing i didnt like is the way they balanced it. The Original tire used spoke wheel weights. When I picked it up they had used standard mag stick on wheel weights on the rim. Being a bagger youd never really see them but sort of cheap looking.
