Late model bikes , I believe 2014 onwards , the k's travelled is held in the ECU. Earlier models retain it in the speedo.
Maybe some one else can chip in with the exact year it changed.

My 2012 Road King, when I refit my original speedo indicated its last indication.
When I swap my speedo / tachometer back to the stock one on my Street Bob, the km reading does'nt change.

steelo I'm fucked if I can get into harley heavon or bike works used bikes on line...... I have tryed again and again so  just give up...
Combing through all the other places on line starting to get an itea still like the RK when looking I find harley heavon bikes { green backgrounnd } but none have been from bike works. 

Yep I know  "that guy" who fine tunes HD  lives near me "talented man I heared"
and I haven't evan got a bike

reckon 09 and up stores in ecm
plucged new speedo into ecm and it put km on it, came with special cable
a lot of imported bikes get a new kph speedo so go 09 and up
