I noticed some time ago that the exposed part ot the fork stem that comes through the lower triple tree is corroded. I didnt really worry about it but a mate saw it and said it shouldn't be like that and could be corroded futher up the stem also. I have looked at other fork stems since and cant really see others as bad as mine. My bike is only 12 months old but I'm sure it's been like that since purchase.
Anyone seen this before?
any pictures?
Will take some tommorrow and post.
Here's a photo. Any suggestions?

g'day mate... thought that was what you were referring to.. hence request for photo. Mine is same and been like that for as long as I can remember. Also seen a number of other bikes like it. Might ask the question this weekend!!!
Mine's the same, noticed it not long after it was new
Posted same on the yank forum and several people say the same. One mentioned that the stem is a press fit so the corrosion should not go any further. Might use a little wet and dry then apply a little primer and paint.
Now thats confidence in a "press" fit, a circlip to hold it all together.
You do know these bikes have a corrotion warrenty
What do you mean by "corrosion warranty" ?
mine is rusty , dont look under there much.....should be able to clean it up I reckon.
