A lot of fun can be had on all bikes, Harley Davidson is no exception.
I can't comment on a standard 1200 Sportster to Fatbob 103, but i can comment on and compare these bikes with Stage2 upgrades.
In previous comparisions of these bikes i felt the Sporster had the edge in a straight line even after I had the Stage2 kit installed from 1st gear to 3rd gear., so a front sprocket upgrade was done which has given the Fatbob 6% increase through the gears.
Say if we had a wager on these bikes you would have done your dough on the first three corners.
The Sportster sounds pretty good in this video doesn't it, well we had a few problems with the camera so the noise you hear is the Fatbob coming up behind the Sportster.
On the day we compared both bike in a straight line start 4 times. Two standard starts and two at 20klms. One of these starts is on video 'Ring its neck and bury it to the stop' in the Members Video's towards the end. It was nice holding off the guy on the KTM1290 as well. That section of road was a blast with a KTM right behing me.
The result is The Sportster 1200 and the Fatbob 103 are neck and neck through to 3rd and half way through 3rd the Fatbob pulles away. In the corners the Sportster catches it's Freedom pipe through right hand corners resulting in loss of corner speed. A change in pipes and or suspension will fix this but as it stands this Fatbob is better set up and faster through the corners.
My lines are fine and relevant to road conditions and keeping speed through the corners. A good advanced rider coarse in Braking and Cornering doesn't go astray in improving the skills and found the 'Stay Upright' coarse a pearler. The Sportster rocks on so many levels but the Fatbob Rules.
