The Softail Curse

    Query folks.

My custom softails 21 incn front wheel sufferes from the usual curse of the right side of tyre tread wearing much, much quicker than the centre/left side. Ive noticed that many others do too. Now, ive never really cared less about it, but it seems to be happening quicker nowdays when a new front tryre is installed. I dont know if Dunlop has changed there manufacturing specs nowdays, but its more noticable with less kays per front tyre now. This bike has never had an accident.

It never seemed to happen on a 1984 evo custom softail that I purchased in 1984.

I was told that fitting a 19 inch wheel and tyre solves this. I wouldnt know one way or another.

    Whats your opinion.?

Are you still running the 80/90 x 21. how many K's.,, I changed to a 90 / 90 x 21. I this tyre on here now is a Michellin Commander 2, It has a touch under 20,000km. and still at least couple thousand left. I towed a trailer around Oz last August with this tyre. Very happy with it. Especially since from Brisbane around to Perth was temps up to 38 degrees,, then torrential rain 80% of the way from Perth to Melbourne, then fine weather rest of way.

Not sure how many K's you have done but all bike tyres in Australia will wear on the right
Side more than the left due to the camber of Aussie roads ... some roads are worse than
Others and some tyres handle it better than others but you may have a point about the
    Skinner tyre .

My 19" dyna front tyre wears unevenly too so I don't think that's your answer Mick

it was way worse with the stock Dunlop but my Metz 880's still do it too
