STG3 Upgrade advice

    Hi All

    Currently have stage 3 scremain eagle kit installed with the 585cam

    Sort of want to draw more power out of it, Should i get my heads ported + 58mm throttle body?

    Or am I wasting time with my current cam. It sort of runs out of puff around the 3.8k rpm mark....I want to improve this without losing my strong downlow torque. Am I asking too much from my 103ci? haha

    In my opinion it would be a good idea to get the heads done and go with a 58mm throttle body. Have a look at my figures in my signature, that should give you an idea

    If those are the SE-585 cams they are, I believe, designed to be street(EPA) legal and aren't the most radical things for power, but make good torque in mild applications.

    In my opinion you get the best results from matching head work (porting/flow rate, valve angle job, valve springs and decking for comp.) and cam specs. Get them right and you can pretty easily mix and match intake, exhaust and tune to get the final results.

    So I guess the short answer I'm getting to is yes get your heads and cams matched to where you want the power/torque to be.

    I'm going to chuck the bike on the dyno and see what numbers I'm pulling and see what the HP and TQ curves are like

    I'm leaning towards changing out the cam to be honest...

    If you're gonna go to the effort and cost of headwork and bigger throttle body, change the cam

    Yes they must be se585 cams as my s&s 585's were still strong at 5500rpm

    I agree daggs, i have ss585 cams in my 106 and they start working hard at 3000rpm and pull real hard to 5500rpm

    Ive got the 103 stage 3 kit in my streetbob. It has SE 594E cams and runs hard all the way to the limiter. Thats just on a canned tune too. It hasnt been dyno-ed.
