    hey guys,

I have found a screamin eagle super tuner pro that came with my 48 from the dealer. it is in the box but is simply the orange part and there are no cables.

i have no idea on how to use it, but my bike has vance and hines big radius and also a vance and hines air cleaner. As i got the bike from a few hours away and i live in Goulburn NSW id like to ensure the bike is tuned for the area.

Can anyone tell me what cords i need to get it to run, and how to go about it?

do i need to get the paid version of mytune from screamin eagle or is the free program ok also, or do i use another program to tune?

    thanks in advance.

    Dave.

The reason you didn't get the cables is because it has been tuned by either the dealer or a proper tuner and they use their own cables. They load the tune into the bike and also onto the super tuner so you have a back up. If you intend to play around with it, I'd suggest a big read on how the tuner works.
You can go to here, http://prosupertuner.harley-davidson.com/SuperTuner.aspx and insert the number from the tuner box and get the tuner program for free.
You can buy the cables from your Harley dealer or off the net.
I use the Tuner Pro myself and am very happy. I swapped over from a Fuelpak.

Thanks so a good way to check the tune lean/rich would be to get that program, then can I plug it in and see the air fuel ratio there or do I need to do record mode first. It has a oil temp gauge on the oil tank and it was on about 190 degrees after riding an hour and a half, but I don't know if that is normal or too hot.

    Thanks mate.

Dave, you really need to read up on it and what it can do. I assume you bought the bike either from Sydney or Canberra, so running the bike around Goulburn shouldn't mean it would run any different. The tuner you have has a "smart tune" mode that allows you, through the tuner program, to switch it into "smart tune", whereby the tuner can collate info from the bike while you ride it and suggest changes to your VE front and rear settings to further fine tune your bike. Have a look for the thread " http://www.hdforums.com.au/Default.aspx?tabid=71&forumid=27&postid=620796&view=topic" .

If I where you I would leave it alone, you will know if its not running right, I ride my bikes all over Oz including the top of
Oz ( Mount Kosciusko) and no need to be changing tunes.

Yeah probably best advice. It runs real nice no surging etc. This is my first harley and I was unsure if 190 is high for oil temp.

Is it or is this normal?

I would be interstellar in simply looking at the tune though and not messing with it as I am interested in this stuff. I'll take a look at the training guide on the screamin eagle site. I'm guessing there is a way to plug the tuner in and look at it.

    Thanks guys

The serial number on the back of the "orange part" will allow you to download the software from the official HD website to any internet connected computer. ( as said already !)

You will get the latest updated software set the first time you do that. Best done to a laptop of course for practical ease of use.

The cables you can get at a good price from Peter Stephens , they sell them on Aussie ebay , search super tuner cables or similar.

The dealer will have "flashed" the ECM with a stage 1 Calibration for "air cleaner and pipes". They WILL NOT have "tuned" it.

It may be running fine , they often do

190F for oil temperature is not too high , my tuned Softails run around the 200 mark as a "norm"

Oh man, wow. I have only now realized it's farenheit. I feel stupid.

Cool thanks for the advice everyone. I will sus it out when I can but after having a play with the training website for the super tuner I'm a bit more educated on the subject now.

Great bike so far. I love it

Is the program downloads suited to Apple or just Windows?
