11 roadking shifter linkage

G'day all, my first visit here so apologies in advance. Dilemma- Gave the roadking a bit of stick yesterday and she dropped back from 3rd to 2nd all on her own. WTF. Stopped and found that  the rear lever (the one on the shaft out of the gear box) seemed loose. I got home and tried to nip it up but it's tight. The lever is still loose on shaft and can move maybe 3mm. Pretty sure it can't fall off as it would contact the inner primary.

Questions- would this be the cause of my auto transmission or something more sinister?

Is there a trick or am I pulling my primary off to fix ?

                       Anyone had this happen before?

           Any advice appreciated Cheers Hip

    Had it happen to mine.

Problem is where the linkage locates onto the gearbox shaft there is a bolt to stop the linkage from sliding off (and it will).

The bolt isn't as close to the shaft as it should be and it will slowly wear on the shank.

I purchased a new linkage and bolted it on. Fits a lot better. Must of been a production fault at time of manufacture.
