Fat bob, first Harley ,lovin the ride ,cant say the same for service experience so far.1600ks racked up in 2 weeks so in for first sevice, take bike back cause of excessive vibration upwards of 3000rpm ,they all vibrate says dealer,so i tell him the other two i rode didnt, tech has a look ,collapsed front engine mount.Rear fender scratched during service, new one on order.Checked engine oil 3 days after service, had to drain 320 ml out to sit on full mark .WTF, would this have done any damage ?Not impressed with the whole service experiense so far,but lovin the bike/

    Have to agree with Fatbat.

Find yourself an independent operator that you can form a relationship with to give you advice on your preventaive maintenance, service and upgrade needs.

Nothing beats the one on one experience with a good bike mechanic.

Wow. A collapsed engine mount is a pretty serious fault to have at first service.
The fender scratch is a real rookie mistake too.
I hope it all gets better from here.

That is very poor. A reliable independent (if you can find one) is a clear option. I've had some success with that approach, particularly with my last Jap bike.

It shits me that whether for a bike or car your expected to pay $110+ plus an hour labour for the nearest apprentice who may or not be any good. I've had trouble with cars and bikes on this score, and generally when standing there looking/arguing for resolution, it turns out the least qualified bloke in the workshop was the one doing the work. I have been please that when this has happened with local dealer, the head mechanic has taken responsibility to resolve it.

Now I'm not having a go at apprentices as they have to learn their trade and many of them want to do their best but bloody hell - the system lets them and the customer down when this is the result. I'm now very proactive in talking over what has to be done when handing over the keys/fob and checking it all out upon return. And going straight back to ask questions when something questionable happens. As a result I'm getting better at doing these things myself...

Just one of many bad experience's I have heard of come out of the dealership workshops & there highly trained technicians errors ?, there are currently many options in WA for work to be carried out by personal who care, know there job, who pays there wages & what customer satisfaction is. Hope you get things sorted.

Trust no one & ask plenty of questions if you have any doubts.

I do my own oil changes / minor work myself. Not hard when you have your own bike lift, tools & the time to do it. I'm prepared to give most things a go, but if unsure of anything I ask a trusted Harley mechanic of mine for advice.

I enjoy learning while working on my bike, & I'm saving $ at the same time, plus the satisfaction of accomplishment.

all well and groovy soft but while under warranty services must be done by a qualified mechanic as you would no doubt know, doesn't have to be HD Ashman but it does have to be an authorized mechanic
the apprentice that will do your service at the stealership workshop is not yet an authorized mechanic and bet he doesn't have one over his shoulder with a watchful eye either, and yes you will still be charged (at the minimum) of $140 p/h for this luxury and the fucker could take 2hrs to do the service if hes slow
take the bike to an independent HD mechanic Ashman even if you have to ride 200kms, but be sure to use OEM lubricants
STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM HD WORKSHOPS
