Hi all, im not really in the know with this kind of stuff, But my brother found a breakout on an auction site, its written off.The frame has a big kink under the engine from a hit. The bike (seems) fine in most other aspects, He wants to know whats a good replacement frame to use and can it be registered as a harley. or just registered as some custom. hes in qld but the bike is in vic or nsw i think. I seen some frams on VPW that can take the breakouts 240rear.

Thanks for the reply mate, yep i'll tell him to email VPW or call them to see his options. cheers

    edit-

Called VPW, they dont have a frame for the breakout. Spewing, Aparently building a custom bike you cant use all harley parts or have it look like one.

    Just throwing it out there....

Is it possible to contact Harley Davidson Dealer or someone in that industry who is able to order a new breakout frame with new identification tags etc?

Then it might be a case of transferring all parts over to the new frame.  I'm not sure what else may be involved going down this path, but it might be worth a shot.

Yep you should be able to get a new frame from Harley with same vin you have to cut the frame neck of give
That to them and a bundle of cash almost did this with a softail frame but at the eleventh hour Harley Aus couldn't supply it to the Dealer , us had non left even though it was still available so I got a phone call from a very stressed out parts man
Lucky I hadn't cut off yet but had paid for the frame Which was refunded

Thanks for the idea fellas, ill head in to harley and ask the question. he has bought the bike so no going back now, was a good buy if he can sort out the frame. he has contacted somebody who repairs the frame then ICV but the genuine frame swap option sounds a ton better.

I don't think there's any point to contacting anybody about repairing the frame. That frame cannot be registered again.
Good luck but there's a reason he probably got "a good deal" because it's either for spare parts or a lot of stuffing about and cost to either get it back to being a regular harley or a custom.

If the frame was to be repaired, it wouldnt be registered under that vin. It would be an Individually constructed vehical. with a few changes. Thats what im told anyway.
